Positive Behaviour Support

At Meaningful Lives WA (MLWA), our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) services are focused on improving the quality of life for individuals with disabilities by reducing behaviours of concern in a person-centred and trauma-informed way. As an NDIS registered provider, MLWA prioritises each individual’s dignity and wellbeing by creating a comprehensive plan that is proactive, strengths-based, and tailored to the unique needs of each participant.

Our PBS services begin with a Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA), a detailed analysis of the environmental factors, triggers, and needs behind challenging behaviours. From there, we develop a person-centred Positive Behaviour Support plan that includes skill-building strategies to replace behaviours of concern with positive alternatives. This could involve developing communication techniques, social skills, or coping strategies that enhance an individual's ability to engage positively with their surroundings.

At MLWA, we implement proactive strategies that adjust environments and routines to reduce the likelihood of challenging behaviours occurring. Our Positive Behaviour Support Plans provide clear, respectful guidelines for support workers and caregivers to safely respond to behaviours if they arise, ensuring the safety of all involved.

Ultimately, our Positive Behaviour Support services aim to build the capacity of each individual to participate fully in their community, fostering independence and improving overall wellbeing. We are committed to creating therapeutic, positive relationships with participants, ensuring that all our supports align with their goals and promote their safety and quality of life.
